God has brought some wonderful, yet hurting gals into my life through my workplace. Some of these gals seem to need a Big Sister/Mom figure. They have hidden wounds and hurts and God has allowed me to come along side them during some pretty rough struggles to pray and be a friend. Sometimes it takes tough love and some strong words of encouragement to help them through the rough spots.
The one lesson that seems to keep coming up is a very hard lesson to learn and one I need to be constantly reminded of as well - You can’t fix everything for others. Sometimes people need to go through the wilderness and learn lessons in the fiery furnace of life and you cannot “rescue” them from that process. You can only pray them through the process.
This is so hard. I’ve posted this quote before and would like to share it again today:
At times the strength of spiritual community lies in the love of people who refrain from getting caught in the trap of trying to fix everything for us, who pray for us and allow us the pain of our wilderness, our wants, so that we may be more deeply grounded in God.

Matthew 16:21-23
21From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
I am praying that my mind be set on the things of God, NOT on the things of man. Heavy Stuff -Heavy Heart! Praying for my struggling friends today.
