The Package – Not   20 comments

As I got off the elevator yesterday after work and walked into the lobby of our building heading to the back entrance to go to my car, I noticed what looked like a package at the back door.

I thought it was strange and as I got closer, I stopped dead in my tracks.  It was not a package it was a stunned young hawk!

We stared at each other.  Then I finally came to my senses and said, “Camera! Pictures! Hurry!”  As I inched my way closer to the doors, I realized the poor little guy was most likely hurt or in a bit of shock.

As the flash from my camera went off, Mr. C Hawk perked up a bit, but continued staring at me.  I started talking to him as others gathered  and pulled out their camera phones to get their pictures of the star of the evening.  We were in awe to see such a beautiful creature right on our back porch so to speak!

I finally called animal control and I am telling you, they were there in less than 5 minutes!  I was shocked. I met the guy in the front of the building to let him know where Mr. C Hawk was hanging out.  He asked me to describe the bird and I was so proud to show him my awesome pictures of my new friend. 🙂

.

While the animal control guy got all his bird catcher gear ready, I went back to Mr. C Hawk and told him help was on the way.  My co-worker was saying that it really seemed like the little guy was actually listening to me.  So as the bird catcher came from behind Mr. C Hawk, I continued talking to my friend so that he would stay focused on me.  The bird catcher had him caught and put in a cage before Mr. C Hawk even knew what was going on and before I could snap any photos of the capture!

.

 The animal control guy thanked me for my help and they were off. Mr. C Hawk would now be cared for at the wild bird rescue station. See yah Mr. C Hawk.  Here’s to a speedy recovery! It was a pleasure meeting you last evening!

Psalm 17

6 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.

7 Show me the wonders of your great love,
you who save by your right hand
those who take refuge in you from their foes.

8 Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings

9 from the wicked who are out to destroy me,
from my mortal enemies who surround me.
