The Hostess this Week: Finding Joy in the Morning
The Quote for this Week:
This quote made me think a little deeper about Martha. There are times, I have a lot of Martha in me and I find myself caught up in the service so that I don’t have to deal with the intimacy. Personally, the intimacy would mean that areas of my heart, my thoughts, my comfort zone and my insecurities would be revealed. Jesus would want to deal with the weeds that I have hidden in my heart; the ones I have been cultivating as flowers. I would rather be busy, busy, busy and steer clear of the probing, all-knowing, Gentle Spirit of the Master who recognizes the difference between a flower and a weed and the need for the latter to be yanked out!
.
“Not quite done Lord, I’m just going to stay here in the kitchen and bake, and cook and clean. You know, lots of work to be done. I can catch most of the conversations in here, no worries. Talk amongst yourselves!”
.
Intimacy: a close association with or detailed knowledge or deep understanding of
.
The problem: the longer I avoid the intimacy and the yanking of the weeds, the deeper the root and the more painful the extraction. I have to come with my heart open wide and have his Gentle Spirit do his work of revealing the sickness and making me whole again. It is in the intimacy that I am open to His will in my life. The intimacy allows me to have a gentle spirit; a teachable spirit. Intimacy draws me to my Savior’s side offering Him my heart to mend and heal.
.
The solution: Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
.
Lord, take my heart and make it wholly devoted to you!
