So, I am sitting down in my room reading some blogs before I hit the sack and all of a sudden I feel a jolt and the house shakes. Oh my word we just had an…
Did I mention that I am in Southern California and you never know when an earthquake will hit! Just to make sure it was an earthquake and not something seriously wrong with the house’s foundation, I went to one of my favorite sites to find out about earthquakes which is almost instant in their reporting. I wanted to find out where it was centered and what the magnitude was. Here is their report…
A minor earthquake occurred at 9:28:49 PM (PDT) on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.
The magnitude 3.1 event occurred 3 km (2 miles) NE of Newport Beach, CA.
The hypocentral depth is 8 km ( 5 miles).
Yeah, that felt like a 3. I am just really glad it wasn’t a really big one! Boy do they get your heart racing for a second though! I guess it’s now safe to go to bed!
and this is why I live in Illinois….the earth does NOT move under my feet! Glad all is well!
hi i have a site http://www.earthquakeinfo.net i have been watching lately and the 3.0 plus minor quakes are getting closer to la greater.
these are quartenary faults.these have a potential 0f a 6.5 tops.howevever
the newport inglewood fault covers a lot of population and a6.5 on this fault can be as bad as a 7.7 predicted on the san andreas.at the time of this quake it was preceeded by a 3.5 not to far from vegas and within seconds of reno 3.1 and another area northern ca.
bottom line get prepared.83 percent of people are not.can you say stupid?

I’m glad it wasn’t worse. We have relatives in Southern California, so when we visit we think about earthquakes. Even in the Midwest, we had a quake a few years ago that woke me up at night. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Well no wonder you felt it so well since the epicenter was just north of Newport! All of our beginnings and our ends are in the hands of God…
YIKES! Now THAT’S creepy! We live in North Central Mississippi… we don’t have those here (PRAISE THE LORD) Those are some SCARY things. We do have the occasional threat of a tornado, but thankfully we usually know when to watch for those. I’m glad to hear you’re okay.
Now, I’m heading over to your sister’s blog for that recipe… my tummy is GROWLING after looking at that soup! 😉
Another southerner reporting – we don’t have those things! Glad that things are ok for you.
Okay, I was in the same house as Lana and I did not feel a thing. I guess I was too engrossed in American Idol. Nick said he thinks he felt it. Guess I am just used to earthquakes.
