Hymn for Sunday-To Love Someone More Dearly   6 comments

      To Love Someone More Dearly

To love someone more dearly every day,
To help a wandering child to find his way,
To ponder o’er a noble thought and pray,
And smile when evening falls,
And smile when evening falls:
This is my task.

To follow truth as blind men long for light,
To do my best from dawn of day till night,
To keep my heart fit for His holy sight,
And answer when He calls,
And answer when He calls:
This is my task.

And then my Savior by and by to meet,
When faith hath made her task on earth complete,
And lay my homage at the Master’s feet,
Within the jasper walls,
Within the jasper walls:
This crowns my task.

  1. And smile when evening falls…
    Have a wonderful Sunday!

  2. I just listened to this because I thought the words were familiar. Yes, I have heard it. I think I knew it by My Task.

“To keep my heart fit for His holy sight”.

  3. I awoke this morning to this song. I am 71 years of age and was stunned by waking up to this song. When I was in high school I learned this song and am totally amazed at how God
laid it on my heart to be able to hum this tune. I quickly got up
and came to the computer and there it was, but I looked for
“This Is My Prayer.” I am not on FB and have no desire to do so.
Thanks for posting this beautiful hymn.

  4. I vivdly recall my mother playing this on the piano to accompany singers when I was young. Like Eleanor I first looked for “This is my prayer” but when I found these words I knoew this was the song I remembered but had forgotten.

  5. Please could someone tell me if there is a recording of this song,. I want to play it at my cousins funeral this is an urgent request.

  6. Every weekend i used to go to see this website,
for the reason that i want enjoyment, as this this web site conations actually nice funny material too.
