Three or More Tuesday   14 comments

Tam over at The Gypsy’s Corner is hosting Three or More Tuesday.   Today I wanted to show you what some pretty good sized thunderheads look like at 37,000 feet.

the upper portion of a cumulus cloud characterized by dense, sharply defined, cauliflowerlike upper parts and sometimes by great verticality.

I am on an airplane usually two times a week and I am constantly awed by what is outside the window of a plane.  Here are three too many thunderheads on my flight home last Thursday evening!

Starred Photos28

You know, they really do look like cauliflower!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!   3 comments

Wow, what a gorgeous weekend here in the Northwest!  As I type this,  it is snowing – hard.  We have had 8 inches of snow so far.  Here are the highlights of the weekend…

The picture of the cat who likes to hang out at our house was taken Saturday morning before the real storm hit in the evening.  All the other photos were taken on Sunday morning.

We also enjoyed our annual holiday get together with the neighbors.  We were supposed to go out for dinner but we ended up hanging out around home because of the snow storm.  We had a progressive dinner and enjoyed it so much we decided we should do this every year!

I am supposed to fly back down to California tomorrow morning – OH MY – that will be interesting!!  🙂

Friday Fave Five   13 comments

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for Friday Fave Five hosted by everyone’s favorite – Susanne at Living to Tell the Story!  Here are my Fave five for the week!

1.  Seeing the moon out in the middle of the morning last Saturday!

2.  Driving down the street and seeing all the trees boasting of Fall!

3.  Watching the movie Juno – oh my did I enjoy that one!  (Rated PG-13 for good reason)

4.  Having my favorite comfort food – pilimeny – Russian dumpling soup!  Thanks Nick and Vera!  Delicious!!

5.  Leaving the scorching heat of Southern California!  It was over 90 degrees there today and that was near the beach – YIKES!

Chicago Wednesday   8 comments

Another day of meetings but who cares.  Today Steve was arriving and we were invited out for a special evening.   I met up with Steve and we did a little walking around …

We then got ready for our evening.

We were invited to dinner and concert (Grass Roots – the 70’s band – I forgot how many of their songs I knew!) on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building.  The elevator ride to the 95th floor was 30 seconds!  That is fast and boy do your ears feel it!  Here are the views from the 95th floor…

There was a little storm that was coming in and we were able to watch it come in! Amazing!  This storm also provided some wonderful sky shots!

This morning I went to some more meetings and now we are off to REALLY explore Chicago!  More pictures to come…

The Weekend in Review – Saturday   1 comment

Let’s start with Saturday on my way to do the grocery shopping…

First stop was a stroll through Juanita Bay Park…

The weather was perfect on Saturday and it seemed as though all of nature wanted to take advantage of the warmth from the sun. The turtles were clamouring for a spot on any exposed log they could find so that they could catch a few rays.

Next was a quick stop on Lake Washington in Kirkland to get a few pictures of the mountains…

I then decided I wanted to find a cemetery so that I could get some photos for my Memorial Day post. Boy did I find a beautiful place – Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue…

And in this quiet place, my camera battery said that it would like a little plot of its own near some pretty flowers.

So, off to the grocery store I finally went!  We finished the day by doing some gardening and having a wonderful barbeque with the neighbors…
