WFMW-On-Line Shopping Edition   2 comments

This Wednesday is another themed edition of Works-For-Me Wednesday and this is what Shannon wants from us:

“This time, let’s all share our favorite on-line stores (oh, the marketing people are going to love this!) What are your favorite on-line shopping sources? Where do you go for on-line bargains? Or for on-line window shopping? I can’t wait to see!”

Levenger is my all time favorite.  My wish list at this place is miles long!  I own the Circa products.  You can remove and then reinsert pages in the notebook!  Love it.

I love this store.

WFMW-Mystery Novels that Give Back   7 comments

For WFMW this week, I want to share with you a yummy, easy cookie recipe that I got out of my mystery novel!  You have to love a mystery novel that gives back!  This recipe is so quick and easy you don’t even have to pull out your mixer!

 Preheat your oven

Mix all your ingredients like the recipe says (I halfed the recipe).  I also changed the recipe at this point because I didn’t have any cornflakes and I had a craving for peanut butter.  So I divided the dough after I added the peanut butter chips rather than chocolate chips and made half with cocoa added and half with pecans added.

Last recommendation, keep the cookies in ball shapes.  Do not flatten before baking.

Delicious!

WFMW – Clean Can Opener   11 comments

For WFMW this week, I wanted to share with you how I clean my can opener.  The first time I did this, it really grossed me out because I had NEVER cleaned my can opener before.  Now I make SURE I do this on a regular basis!

You take a paper towel and fold it as shown in the second picture.  Then, just start twisting the can opener like your paper towel was a can you are trying to open.  Notice the gunk in picture 3?  You should have seen my paper towel the first time I did this – OH MY! I am sparing you the parental guidance grossness of it all because it was so long ago and well before I was blogging 🙂 !

Since, I do this so often, there is not that much that came off of my can opener.  But, it is still dirty. Now imagine if you have never cleaned your can opener – EEK!  This is why I clean it often.

If your can opener is super duper dirty, Here’s what else you can do before the above trick:

A clean can opener definitely works for me!

Note: I have not tried the paper towel trick on an electric can opener.

WFMW-Lemon Juice – Hold the Seeds!   7 comments

Many times a recipe will call for the juice of one lemon.  Well, I really don’t want to take out my juicer and get it all dirty for the juice of one lemon but then I really don’t want to fish for lemon seeds in my freshly squeezed juice either!  I have found a wonderful solution:

These little guys are like shower caps for your lemons! You can squeeze the juice from your lemons and the seeds stay in the net!

I purchased my Lemon Stretch Wraps at Sur La Table and they TOTALLY WORK FOR ME!

WFMW-When Carpet Disaster Strikes   13 comments

collage4.jpg

Oh yes! The unthinkable happened.  My dinner plate dropped and left that lovely splatter on my carpet in box one.

Step one – I did not panic! Instead, I thought to myself, this is going to make a great blog post!  I then grabbed my camera and started documenting my cleaning experiment.

Box two is step two in my cleaning experiment – scooping up the food off the carpet.

Box three are the cleaning supplies I used.  I started with a watered down solution of Mrs. Meyers Clean Day All Purpose Cleaner and a rag and scrubbed the carpet as best I could.  Then, I took the hydrogen peroxide poured full strength on the wet rag and dabbed the remaining stains from my carpet.  Next I took a clean towel and stepped on it over the wet area to absorb the liquid.

Box four is the result!  Gone are the stains and boy does that work for me!
